Human whale on Broome's Cable Beach Sunday 29th July


Join us on Sunday 29th July at 9.45am to make a Human whale on Broome's Cable Beach, for an aerial photo to celebrate our wonderful Humpback whale migration.  Western Australia is home to the world's largest population of Humpback whales, who migrate to the Kimberley's warm, tropical waters to mate and calve.

THURSDAY 15TH JULY
5.30 am - Join the volunteers looking after Seagrass in Roebuck Bay. Meet @ Demco car park. Contact Fiona on 0422 244 145

Children’s art display and 30ft blow-up whale, Boulevarde Shopping Centre

7pm - Barrgana Series whale talk @ Notre Dame University. $5 entry

FRIDAY 16TH JULY
6am - Join the volunteers looking after Seagrass in Roebuck Bay. Meet @ Town Beach.  Contact Fiona on 0422 244 145

2.30 to 5.30pm  - Join us for a series of informative and entertaining talks by indigenous rangers,  researchers and naturalists on Humpback whales and the Kimberley marine environment @ The Mercure Hotel.  Gold coin entry.

SATURDAY 17TH JULY
Half price whale watching tours throughout the day - Contact Sentosa (Broome Whale Watching) on 9192 8163.

5.30pm -  Come along and “Toast the Coast” @ The Pearl Luggers, Dampier Terrace.  Enjoy a night of Indigenous dance &music, and short films celebrating whales and the Kimberley coast.  Food & bar available.  $15 entry.  Children welcome.

SUNDAY 18TH JULY
9.30am - Bring the family down to Cable Beach for fun activities including a sandcastle competition (Great prizes), kids whale tail painting, have your photo taken for “Tails for Whales” and listen to whale song. 

11am - Be part of a life sized human whale on the beach for an aerial photo.

1.30pm - Fish Cake Cookoff & Sunday session music @ Matso’s Broome Brewery.  Face painting and games for kids.  Entries open at 12.30.  Cooking starts 1.30pm.  Fantastic prizes.

First whale of the season competition

Photograph the first humpback whale sighted off the Kimberley coast for 2010 and you could win a framed whale photo from Kimberley Whale Watching.  

The image must be taken with a digital camera and include the time, date and location.

Email your entries to kimberleywhales@bigpond.com.  The prize will be presented at The Pearl Luggers on Saturday the 17th of July, when Kimberley Whales Toast the Coast, as part of the 2010 Kimberley Whale Festival.

A new event for the Kimberly Whale Festival in 2010.

Calling budding film makers - get out your video camera and make us a movie!  As part of the Kimberley Whale Festival for 2010 we're asking aspiring movie makers to send us a 5 minute film on the theme "Kimberley Coast".

Dust off your video camera and brush up your movie making skills to make a 5 minute film with the theme
‘The Kimberley Coast’

for Broome’s second annual Kimberley Whale Festival, to be held in Broome over the weekend of the 17th and 18th of July.

School children can use up to one minute of Kimberley coast footage from our package.   The final selection of 12 films (3 from each category) will be shown at “Kimberley Whales Toast the Coast”, an exciting family event at Broome’s fabulous Pearl Luggers, on Saturday the 17th of July.
