Ideas for 2010 Kimberley Whale Festival.

Put on your thinking caps and send us your ideas for the 2010 Kimberley Whale Festival. With this year's Whale Festival co-ordinated in a mere three weeks, we now have a whole year to plan for next year's festival, which is sure to be even bigger and better.

  1. I would like to thank the organisers for organising this fabulous family event (and in only 3 weeks - you must be superhumans!). It was wonderful fun, and I was amazed to learn how important the Kimberley coast is to our remarkable whales. Ideas for next year:
    - Our whales are famous for their beautiful mysterious songs that have specific verses and that change from year to year - perhaps you could have an annual song competition, with the song lyrics honouring and celebrating our whales. The winning song could become the theme song for the festival for that year, shown on TV ads and other promotion and available to buy on CD or to download, and also performed during the day.
    - The whale-inspired sandcastle competition was great fun! Please can we do that again next year?
    - A competition for artists to design whale-inspired images onto big blue flags or banners - with the banners decorating the beach during the festival.
    - A dance event featuring different dance styles, tying in a whale theme to each. For a good laugh, one humorous dance challenge could be to create a dance to the Black Eyed Peas song "My Hump" (ie. humpback whales) - just an idea if people don't think its too silly!
    - Maybe a high-jump competition to celebrate the beautiful way whales jump out of the water.
Good luck with planning of next year's events which I thoroughly look forward to!

  2. Hi, If interested the Pixie Chicks - Australia's Youngest All Girl Rock band would love to put on a show for the festival before leaving for their tour of the USA later this year (2010)
The Girls play originals and favorites from acts such as Miley Cyrus to the old age rockers of AC/DC.
For more information please visit our site: www.pixiechicks.com.au and we would love to put on a show for the kids at the festival through to all ages.
    Cheers
